Here we are bundled up for the 12 degree (yes, F!) weather. Mikey brings the term "foxy" to a whole new level. And does he turn heads with that hat on! Mostly men, laughing and pointing (no joke!) As if they didn't have enough to ridicule Americans for already. He's nicknamed the fox "Chucky Jr." You'll have to ask his friend, Chuck Albanese about that story...

This is the latest in baboushka wear! We care little about the fashion when it's this cold outside, though.

Today we went to the mall. There were moments when it felt like we were back in the states. There's nothing like a hot chocolate on a snowy day. Only when they say hot chocolate, they mean it literally. It is barely melted chocolate you eat with a spoon. Yum!

The waitress was kind enough to offer to take our photo. For all the cultural differences, the people have been very nice to us.

Possible good news with regard to our documents: Our guide informed us today that we should be getting a court date on Tuesday. What this means is that we can possibly appear in court on Thursday, travel to Kiev on Friday, London on Saturday and home midday Sunday. There has been confusion about when we bring the twins home. After we appear in court it takes approximately 10 days to have the twins released into our custody. We will not be staying in Ukraine during those 10 days. Approximately 8 days after we land in the states, there will be a return trip in which the twins will be brought home.

  1. Dear Family,

We are so excited for you. It sounds like everyting is still going smoothly and we can't wait to see you. I hope Mike doesn't look like he did in the pictures. I don't blame anyone for laughing at him, hat or no hat. I am glad its cold there, Mike deserves it after all the teasing he did when we had 3 feet of snow for a month. Calling us up every day and anouncing the weather in Calif.

It was a little dissappointing to find out that you don't get to bring home the twins and still have to go back, but all in God's timing.

Hope your travel goes smoothly, don't worry about getting back for our trip, we'll enjoy it anyway.

Can't wait to hear ALL the stories and experiences.

    Love

    Jonathan and Kat

  2. We'll pray that your guide is correct and you will get that court date this week. Mike, that hat is something else! We look forward to your blog entry each day. We know that God is with you and will continue to watch over you.
    Love,

  3. Yikes, we better bring our thermal underwear! Glad things seem to be moving along in your region. We've been reading of others who are having a much harder time. We're debating on what to do during the ten day wiat but we'll decide that when we get there. We'll try to bring some warm weather with us this weekend!
